Description

Conducting Arm

The conducting arm is an essential part of the electrode lifting mechanism of a modern electric arc furnace and ladle furnace. The conducting arm is made of a copper steel composite plate or aluminum steel composite plate. The cross-section shape is rectangular, and the interior is cooled by water. Many insulation links between the water-cooled conductive copper pipe, electrode collet, and the cross arm are eliminated, which greatly simplifies the structure of the cross arm. It is a new type of cross arm on the ultra-high power electric arc furnace.

Material of Conducting Arm

The conducting arm is made of copper steel composite plate: the outer layer is copper plate and the inner layer is steel plate, which is welded together by the explosion. The outer part of the conducting arm is usually made into a rectangle, the outer copper plate is used for conducting electricity, and the inner steel plate is used as the support arm. Use the copper plate instead of the conductive copper pipe.

It can greatly increase the conductive area, greatly reduce the reactance and resistance value, and increase the active power by 3% – 6%.

 

Characteristics

The clamping force of the contact jaw mechanism is great and the clamping head is designed well. During operation, not only the electrode will not fall off, but also the electric contact between the electrode and the copper clamping head is good.

The small center circle of the electrode not only reduces the inductive pressure drop on the electrode but also greatly reduces the corrosion coefficient of refractories, which is especially beneficial to the operation of the LF furnace.

All stressed parts are water-cooled or placed in water-cooled components and will not be heated by electric and electromagnetic induction of the furnace, not to worry about material creep at high temperatures or fastener stress relaxation and failure.

Reliable insulation is provided in the right place without current dispersion or gap arc and parts will not be heated and damaged.
